Research on Jointed Goatgrass In Montana

Harvesting wheat

Dr. Bruce Maxwell and Dr. Marie Jasieniuk, scientists from Montana State University, were the first to develop a bioeconomic model designed to evaluate crop yield and yield loss-weed density interactions for jointed goatgrass in winter wheat.  This model is designed to predict the impact of various management options on jointed goatgrass densities and net returns.  The project was completed in the fall of 2001 and the third scientific paper will be sent to publication during the summer of 2002.

Currently, there are no jointed goatgrass research projects being conducted in the state of Montana.  To suggest a research issue with respect to jointed goatgrass in Montana, please contact Dr. Bruce Maxwell at ussbm@montana.edu or send the request to Doug Schmale, the Extension Coordinator.
